Breeding Meaties.......

As I read the post....when he said work....I thought he meant he worked at a hatchery that does that breeds freedom rangers.  I definitely could be wrong, though.
I do work at a hatchery but we don't sell colored broiler chicks anymore. They are made using a cornishx male mated to colored hen barred rock etc.
 
I had a rather heated argument on facebook yesterday. A woman insisted that cornish x were genetically modified. She just could not get the difference between hybrid, selection and gene splicing. It was good to see the post on how the chickens are crossed to get that hybrid. Thanks!
 
From everything I've read on the subject, the "experts" say don't try it....Cornish X's are hybrids and there's no way to be sure that the offspring will produce anything like the adults.

Having said that, I'd be interested in hearing the results if you do raise some to maturity and produce offspring with them.
hatcheries have a vested interest in us buying chix from them...not producing our own.
