Breeding pairs coop

Having almost finished the new run enclosure for my birds, I need help with ideas for a simple oblong coop that I'll build inside, with compartments housing a breeding pair each. I have four different pairs/breeds, now on coops of their own, but I need to house them all together in their new place. Can the compartments be divided from each other by a simple wire mesh, or do the birds need to be visually isolated from each other with a solid wall?

Wire mesh works for many chickens, but if you plan on a grow-out pen for cockerels, I would isolate them visually from the females. Same for any standard game chickens--the roosters may try and fight through the fence.
