I created my own database and keep it up today. I has all the information that I think is relevent to my situation. It includes hatching records, and pictures. I can create pedigrees back the 3 years we have had chickens and is working for me. I have it in 3 loctions so that if I loose one copy I can alway retrieve one of the others.

I also use Zooeasy. It is very complete and customizable. I am able to put in pictures as well as my own code for each chicken. Paperwaork was getting to be too much with all the data I was keeping. This puts it all in one place. This program covers all area of keeping chickens and breeding and showing as well as sales and health.

I use this online "cloud" type software at zohocreator.com It's drag and drop and completely free. You have to create your own data fields and such so it may not be for those looking for pre-designed turn-key stuff. It's a great DIY tool if your going to create your own spreadsheets anyway.

The reason I like it so much is because I can enter data in realtime with my iphone. I absolutely hate having to remember to sit down at a computer and enter things after the fact. I have quick entry forms set up so I can make expense entries with my iphone before I even leave the store. I note eggs collected as I collect them, and journal other flock information directly from my iphone and its done. I also like that any form, view, chart, report etc can be embedded into the html of a web page. You can turn your website into a customized tracking software of sorts.

They have extensive how-to pages so you can teach yourself to do the advanced stuff if you want. I figured out how to send myself text messages from my to-do calendar so I don't forget to do things. I'm setting it up to track garden and livestock production, income & expenses, breeding, equipment maintenance, farm product sales etc.
