Breeds of 2 Roosters, thanks!

I hear you!
I only hope (for that woman's peace of mind) that she was simply mistaken and not outright lying!
It didn't sound at all right to me...also she was selling a pair of frizzles to breed together. I have read that breeding 2 frizzles is unsafe genetically and opens the door to a bunch of potential health problems, if not outright fatalities. Add to that? The "pair" was brother and sister.
I do hope to find a few cochins and a frizzle or two. And perhaps I will just order from a hatchery. I'm So nervous about the shipping though. But on the one hand the chicks would have to endure the shipping process after which point they'd be safe and sound at home. On the other hand, I could drive over and pick up the ones I want, but then what exactly am I getting myself in for? I'm sure you know what I mean...
I really do appreciate your input and feedback. Thank you ever SO much!!!

Never breed frizzle to frizzle. It isn't deadly but produces frazzles, which have over curly feathers that break off easy. Birds can end up pretty naked. I had a pair of roosters once. We culled one young, and the second I couldn't bring myself to do it again. He would spend each summer all red and nearly naked. In winter he was cold. He made it to his second winter before dying one night.

I order most of my chicks. That's a personal preference. I ordered some black frizzle Cochin bantams from My Pet Chicken this year. Two are smooth and one is frizzled. I've also ordered their mottled cochin bantams. For ten dollars more a chick they will sex them for you. Mine have always been correctly sexed. I pay the extra to not have so many roosters, which I already have plenty of.

If you have a Tractor supply in your area they will often have bantam cochins in their bantam bins. I find hatchery birds to be more clean as far as health wise. Breeders can be hit and miss. Some are wonderful, some not so much. There's more risk of diseases from breeders, but that's just my opinion and experiences.

that's certainly true about frizzle to frizzle breeding. Poor guy needed sunblock for summer.

The totally naked chickens some folks breed need to be under shade at all times. People raise them as they don't have anything to pluck when processing. How sad!

I may look into getting one or two frizzles. I have to wait until I am sure of the genders of my silkie chicks though. I'd love to try silkie to frizzle. I'd also give a try at frizzle to one of my standard breeds, still not sure which. My concern comes in if the parents and/or grandparents frizzle of the chicks I'm looking at are all also related or frizzle-frizzle matings.
I guess, first things first...find out for certain the genders of my silkie chicks. Then ask the next question...
