Breeds that are good as pets

I'm considering getting chickens as pets, and I'm not sure what breeds would make good pets. Also, is the only difference between bantams and regular chickens the size? Thanks!

silkies and cochins are like the fuzzy little lap dogs, cuddly friendly but need a little extra care in some cases. im sure there are more but thats the ones im familiar with. silkies are walking incubators so keep that in mind. they live to be mommies.

Silkies are supposed to make good pets, although I find that males have a habbit of being aggressive, as my current Silkie roo has attacked me in the past. Polish chickens are also good pets.

Bantams are small chickens, that can be up to 1/4 the size of it's Standard sized counter-part, if it has one. For example, Silkies, I believe, only come in banty size. I think.

Bantams lay smaller eggs than Standard sized birds, but I find that banties eat less. The small size also makes them a good selection for indoor pets.

My Polish and Silkie hens are my favorite for pets. They're very friendly, even though my Polish can't see as well.

My Large Fowl Marans and Faverolles are very friendly docile and sweet chickens and both have been laying well this winter for me an egg a day from the Faverolle and so far and Egg a day from my cuckoo Marans hen

its funny since most of the places I researched said that birds that have a lot of plumage on their heads are more skiddish but based on what I have been reading on BYC that does not seem to be the case.

My experience with Polishes is that they are really good flyers but are also really skittish. Not a good combo.

Silkies are nice, but unless you want eighteen thousand of them try not to get a roo.
Cochins are the best! They are cuddly, sweet, and affectionate. Mine like to sit on my shoulders. They also come in tons of colors, so they can be really interesting birds.

I vote silkies. They seem to handle boredom well and don't really wander far.......
