breeds that lay colored eggs

Oh
droolin.gif
ya'll have some nice looking eggs! I need to get a couple Marans next, those big dark brown eggs look great next to the EE. As soon as I can make more room I'm also going to get some purebred blue & black Ameraucanas, all my EE lay green eggs and I've got a craving for some pretty BLUE eggs.

So the dark brown colored eggs come from Marans and Welsumers. Any other breeds that produce dark brown eggs? I think it would be neat to have a flock that consisted of blue, green, olive, light pinkish brown, dark brown, and white egg layers. Those are the colors I would be interested in.

. Are the Welsummers good with people as in not flighty or meanish? Also, where would I find a reputable breeder of the true Ameracaunas (sp)? I would love some green eggs too so I need EE's for that I take it. Good thing we are expanding the run

although they all free range right now.

I just have to say that last year I got an EE who lays blue green eggs. Yay. This year I got two blue Ameraucanas from a reputable breeder and they lay......... blue green eggs. I didn't even think to ask what color they lay since I assumed they'd be blue. I'm happy with the birds but just a teensy bit disappointed about the egg color. It's a small thing, though, and certainly my fault for not doing my research. Those dark brown eggs are amazing, too. Maybe next year...

I love my Welsummers. Mine are friendly (although one of my loudest birds when it is time to lay an egg!).

Their eggs are quite dark, and mine are hatchery birds. I love colorful egg baskets. I wish I had some pure ameraucanas (I do have EE's). I'm working on olive-eggers right now.

Mine are friendly, but not lap chickens. They come running up to me for treats, eat out of my hand, but prefer to not be picked up and cuddled.

There are many BYC breeders of pure Ameraucana's in the Hatching eggs section here. Also, pipsnpeeps breeds pure Ameraucana's.

My neighbor has some EE and I tooks some eggs and put them in the incubator. the dad is a game hen I think..So is it likely that the babies will lay the same color of eggs
