Breezy bird farm reviews?

Well looks like peavey mart is no longer an option 😫

I had a good experience with my first small order from breezy. I only ordered 6 bielefelder eggs. It was supposed to be a mild week that they shipped but the weather turned and it was -25! Not ideal. But the shipping was great, even still felt some heat in the heat pack I ordered.

When I candled on day 14 one looked like it had never been fertilized, one had a blood ring (which I think I saw on day 7 too, so really early loss, maybe impacted by the extreme cold? I don’t know). Anyway, the other 4 made it to lockdown, I was nervous after finding this thread. But they all hatched! This was my first time incubating, shipped eggs, extreme cold during shipping. 4/6 hatched. I’m going to say that’s not too bad.
Yep Peavey closing is a real blow to the farming community here. And those of us who were ordering chicks. I won’t get any chicks this year I guess.

4/6 is an awesome outcome! You should post some pics.

Congratulations!

Aww man, you’re in Saskatchewan right? Too bad. Are there local farms you can get chicks from? We have lots in Manitoba.

Here’s a few pics 😍

Awwww adorable! I forget how cute they are when little.

Central Ontario, I can get chooks from Freys but I really want more lavender Orpington and some Brahma.

Performance Poultry near Kingston has a lovely selection but they are a 4 hr drive for me and they don’t ship chicks. Next year I might get some Russian Orloff from them.

Have you heard of the heritage near? They are in Ontario and I so wish I was closer to them. Their chicks look lovely and breeds I want lol!

Oh do you mean DC Heritage in Quebec? That’s quite a drive from me. Further than Performance Poultry.

Was checking out kijiji and seems everyone now has exotic chooks here. There has been a huge growth in poultry keeping in the past couple yrs it seems.

No, they are just called the Heritage Nest, I follow them on facebook and instagram and their chicks look so beautiful, the have silverudds (the first breed I got and love, mine laid all winter), swedish flower hens (which I just hatched), mosaics, marans, and more. I forget the name of the town in Ontario that they are in, want to say it started with an F. It was too far for me though, I think central or south central Ontario. Not western anyway!

Just tried to see where they are but I don’t have FB or Instagram so couldn’t find an address.

Just as well ! I am at my limit for chooks this year. Maybe next year.

Just looked for the post, Fordwich, so probably more South!

I know what you mean, I've hatched a lot more than I'd planned this year lol! Waiting to see how many hens I end up with though. I have a few I know because they were autosexing. But most I'm still waiting to see. My 6 week old hatch are driving me crazy. One I'm pretty sure is a hen, one pretty sure is a roo and the other couple have me so confused lol!

It’s the reason I don’t hatch myself - getting Roos. It’s hard to get rid of the suckers and there is no processing plant close by. As it is I have an Oooops rooster here from Peavy Mart -
Should have been a pullet but Shirley is definitely a Roo! His sister Laverne is a pullet thankfully!
