Bresse Chickens

A Birchen marans roo would have feathered legs.

I have several Bresse from GFF (also 65 from another breeder) and I'm not sure how to cull the group. I plan in keeping a roo or two and 10-20 hens. I was planning on selecting the largest rooster and hens. Making sure they don't have any obvious defects. What else?

I have sent GFF a pic to see what they think. I have others from them that I got in different batches and they have black legs too. My splashes and blues have the slate legs

Black legs? Mine all have blue

Yep anything that doesn't have blue legs should be culled and not used for breeding.

I have a black n white cross with the best blue legs. She's white with some black spots was going to keep her and breed her to my whites.she's big

Here are some pics of my bresse. The legs are all dark except for the splash. I think that's the only one of this age group that has blue legs.

I also got a batch of 11 chicks from the breeder that I was assuming was bresse as I had an issue with an order of bresse with a chick DOA and their were lees then the guaranteed number of blues. This group looks to have more chicks with blue legs although the black chick has black legs and the darker blues have darker legs. I had 2 chicks die in the group early on. I also had one chick with light legs that I thought was a white bresse but it looks like its a light sussex. What do you guys think. The legs look better on these? Are these bresse?

Also this is the black chick in the group I think is bresse. There appears to be brownish on its head near the comb. It's the smallest chick of the bunch.
