Pssst...they're Houdans! And apparently there was a Golden laced Polish a few generations back as you can see in Simone! Even Dottie has a bit of the gold lacing in certain spots. Hehe, thanks for posting those for me! My PC will have the interwebs again on Thursday so I'm going to be bombarding you guys with pics!!! I LOVE these birds! Sortie perched on my hand last night and cooed and chirped while I scratched the back of her neck and her face. She put her head down on my hand, closed her eyes, and made this looooong drawn out cricket chirping noise! What a sweet pea!!! Please let them be girls, please let them be girls!

Ok, I've gotta go back and catch up on this thread now!

The silkies are beautiful!! I picked up a few chicks this spring, but they didn't make it.

Paty-- We just got our chickens and guineas last fall, so we haven't been through a summer yet, but it is starting to get hot here too. Not today though. It is overcast and more storms expected this afternoon. Anyway, I have 5 guineas in a hut with outdoor space on either side (I can't free range because of the neighbor's stupid dog). 2 are taking turns sitting on about 30 eggs. When they hatch I assume that I should take the babies out? I would figure the others would pick on them?

Ah! I thought they looked a little polish, but I don't know a lot about those breeds except that I do have 3 polish in the brooder and thought they had about the same hairdo! I don't know that I have ever seen houdans, so I wouldn't have recognized those either. Around here most people have the standard average breeds for eggs, not much for the fancy stuff!
