I've been looking for part time work since January. I normally do greenhouse work but this year a couple of the places I went to had over 300 applicants in ONE day.

I've still been looking, but it's been the same everywhere I have applied

Hopefully, things will turn around soon...

Yep it's bad here too! I have been looking for work since August!! I have applied for everything! From high paying to min wage! No luck so far. I don't know what I am going to do when my unemployment runs out! But I have updated and got an awesome resume! plus all my animals are so spoiled! I do worry about feeding them when the unemployment runs out though.

You are awesome!

Soooo I think I've made a big decision. I'm not going to re-bid on the Polish. They're a trio and I'd have to split them up (no roos allowed here). I don't think I can do that. Plus, they're supposed to be a show quality breeding trio. I just want nice pets, so why take that away from somebody who really wants it? They're gorgeous Polish, but it doesn't make sense for me to go through with it.

Sigh.... I bought a heat lamp and a chick feeder and waterer. I'm going to order four chicks from MPC. I feel guilty, because I adopt all of my animals but this makes the most sense for me. I need sexed birds. I'd rather have a 90% chance than a 50/50 shot. I want certain breeds. I can get them from MPC. If I get this pullet from this person and that hen from that person I run the risk of bringing home diseases. So I've decided that I am ordering a buff laced standard Polish, a bantam white crested black Polish, a standard Sultan and a bantam buff Brahma. I won't get my order for at least a month or two, and they'll be indoors for several weeks. That gives me plenty of time to observe my Houdan chicks for illness and figure out if I have ladies or gents. I know exactly where I'll put them and how I'll keep them safe from my cats and dogs. I must admit, I'm incredibly excited about raising chicks! The wait is going to kill me haha.

I hope everyone is having a great night. We made some awesome progress on the coop today! Just minor stuff to do now. Im feeling much better tonight

Once I posted on a thread and I was wrong with the info I gave. Well, someone came in and made me feel like a fool. I did reply and admit I was wrong. But I tell you, now I am real careful about what I post. Other than that, I do try to contribute to discussions. I do love this site as it is chock full of info!

Well after allowing "Pimp", our new Silkie roo, to get aquainted with his new harrem for a few hours in the bathroom, I took them all back outside into their "Silkie Love Shack" while I finished building our privacy fence.(Woo Hoo! Finally done with it!!) Then he had to be introduced to our 2 standard Cochins, that didn't go as well. At first they had a staring contest, and then all hell broke loose! Now, the Cochins TOWER over the Silkies. (The Silkies can almost walk under them) One pecked him on the head and he started jumping up doing the little chest bump thing and then he latched onto her neck like a little pitbull! He held his own for about 30 seconds and then they both ganged up on him. They would chase him all around and I would intervene when they got too rough with him. This kinda got the other Silkies fired up too and 2 of them started to gang up on him too. I contemplated taking him out, but decided to let him deal for a bit more. After about 15 minutes they slowed down alot, and by the end of the evening they were all huddled together getting ready to go to bed. The Cochins usually sleep on their roost, but tonight they slept on the floor with him! So all is good. I am still waiting for my wife to upload the pics. I'll post them as soon as she does!
