Bring your "Howdy's" here!

Morning everybody! Looks like the start of a nice day finally. It is supposed to rain later this afternoon though. But I should be able to finish mowing my yard by then at least. I only got the front and one side done yesterday before it started. My wife got Gracie(the world's greatest duck) a new pool yesterday so I'm gonna set it up for her today too. Other than that I got everything done and will be on here quite a bit I'm sure. Thanks for the compliments on "My Page" paty and Blue! Gracie does follow Col. around alot! I think he's her favorite.

I'm going to my first Swap meet here on June 20th. Exited about that! Gonna take my youngest daughter with me. And may take one or both of my roos if they start getting too loud between now and then. But I'm hoping not. I don't want to get rid of them though. Can a rooster be surgically de-crowed (vocal cords snipped?)? Or is it considered cruel? Has anyone ever heard of it being done? I REALLY want to keep my roos but not if they endanger the rest of my flock with getting discovered by the city.

Morning everyone!

PRC...never heard of de-crowing!

I'm fortunate that I live out in the middle of nowhere on 10 acres and no neighbors right next door.

Be warned...Swap meets are VERY bad for chicken addicts...you won't come home empty handed, that's a guarantee!

Well, I'm off to deliver a few chickens and on further to pick up some hatching eggs (blue frizzled bantam cochins

Hope everyone has a marvelous day!

Good Wednesday Morning! (no, I am really not that perky!)

PRC-- I just absolutely love your coop! And your chickens are beautiful! Right now, my coop and chickens are a muddy, muddy mess, but I think the rain has stopped for a little bit anyway.

Stevie-- Sorry to hear about your headache. A big ole Mountain Dew will usually help mine. Or, I try harder to avoid the annoying girl I work with!

Mornin folks. I'm trying to call back DH, but of course there was bad reception in the plant in Italy. So the conversation went...Hello? Hello...Hello? HELLO CAN YOU HEAR ME? Hello?? What the _____. Call me back...

Looks like I have to take a ride to Dearborn later this afternoon...I don't wanna go to Dearborn...

PRC...Nah don't think you can decrow a rooster. Other than freezer camp like Opa said

Morning everybody!!!

Hey, how do you all quarantine? I may be bringing home those Houdan chicks on Friday and then possibly some adult Polish on Sunday. Obviously I need to quarantine, right? I only have one coop so I'm thinking I might have to keep the chicky-doodles inside for a whole stinkin month. Oh boy. This should be fun. Now if my "garage" roof was fixed (actually just a deck that was enclosed onto my house with a big barn door) I could keep them in there. But noooooo, of course it's not! I foresee this being a royal pain in the rear!

Rachel,
I haven't had much experience with quarantine, but do you have a cage for them? We have a big, black wire cage for the dogs that we keep ours in when we need to. Or you could build something temporary.

Thanks. I have made several mods to it since I took those pics. And the birds have changed quite a bit, especially the Silkies. They have gotten most of their feathers/fur. I need to get some updated pics up soon.
