Brinsea Mini Advance Incubator

Yeah my eggs are a little larger. I checked last night and the angle number can go way up. Much higher than I have it set. Probably for larger waterfowl etc. I've heard of someone putting a toothpaste cap down in one side of the reservoir to lower the surface area and reduce humidity. People seem to have great hatches though with the mini so I'm going with it for now. I'm monitoring my egg weight though in case I need to adjust. Also, the brinsea has a cooling cycle to mimic a hen leaving the nest periodically (can be turned off). I think all the minor fluctuations are probably okay since it's that way with a hen. I know it's enough to drive you batty. My first batch in my still air I was ridiculously stressed.

I adjusted mine to 12 and now it appears to be rotating 180 degrees....humidity has been holding at 50%.....I hope I haven't done any damage to them!

I was wondering about the "cooling off" feature too. I think that can be set to 1 hour....I'll double check that again too. I know it says if you're going to use that feature to start it at 7 days, and then it automatically shuts off on day 18.

I will be candling on day 7, so I can set them again with the X side up, then I'll be able to tell for sure, but I'm pretty sure it's all good right now.....I hope!

Indeed....batty, paranoid, fretful, anxious and probably more that I haven't experienced yet as day 7 will be on Tuesday the 12th!!

It's early days. Even small frequent movements should keep the embryo from sticking this early on. I think your fine. Enjoy the calm before the hatching. Then you'll really be crazed. Lol.

Well this is day 7 and I just candled the 6 eggs I have in my Brinsea Mini Advanced......and of the 6, I can say 3 are a definite YES and 3 are questionable, but my gut is telling me they are a no go.
There is a difference in the weight of the eggs that have embryos vs. the ones that don't...they are heavier than the eggs that have babies. I am leaving the 3 in the incubator however until I candle again on Friday. Then I may not put them back in.....

But as of now, I have 3!!!

YAY!!

Day 14 here. Candled one last time last night. Can't see anything but the air sack so I guess that's a good thing.
On Saturday I'll put a paper towel down that I cut to fit, fill the water pots and lockdown!!
I'll be a nervous wreck!!

I was such a wreck after my first hatch that I told my husband that I would never hatch again. The mail lady was standing on my porch with hatching eggs a month later.

I am a little nervous but I candled for the last time last night (day 17) and I have 3 active chicks, so my anxiety has eased.....now I just have to raise the humidity, lock it down and be on "pip watch" starting Tuesday!! :D

Gotta love the Brinsea. I have no regrets with it... **ahem** I mean, it could magically hold more eggs... but hey, I bought the smaller one on purpose & that's probably a good thing! LOL.

Can't wait to see the pictures of your little cuties.
