Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance EX 24 eggs?

I take the bottom part which holds the eggs and cut it away from the lid. Then I cut the bottoms of the cups out so the styrofoam doesn't block heat or moisture. I set the eggs in the cups in the traditional, pointy end down, position.

The cartons really end up more like a collection of connected rings to hold the eggs in place. Which means they are really floppy, so you put the cut down cartons in the tray, then fill them with eggs, rather than try to fill the cartons and move them over to the.'bator.

Hope that helps!

Thanks!!

And they hatch right in the cartons?

Hi! I have never hatched with incubator before and I have the Brinsea Advance EX with humidity pump. I just now tried loading non fertile eggs into it to see how 24 fit. NO WAY!
So I was wondering about not using the bars at all? Then I read use the styrofoam egg carton bottoms instead. QUESTION: how about bacteria from the foam carton? I know I'm a worrier. Do you spray them, wash them?? If you use the bars with foam...how many do you fit in?? Pointy end down...fat butt straight up?? Lay sideways??? Eggs touching each other or not?? Better to use the auto turn or not?? I have it but could hand turn...I want to fit in 24.
Thank you.
Linda

Brinsea will hatch as many chicks as are hatchable, no worry about room, if there is room for eggs there is room for chicks.

Also Brinseas are very forgiving for frequent opening, since due to their relatively small air volume and efficient heating/air distribution, Brinseas come back to set temperature and humidity in minutes.

Warning:

Do not try that with styrobators (Frequent opening during lockdown and hatch).

Just put 30 LF eggs in mine, once again. I just carefully put them large end up and leave the rails out - stuff as many as I can in. I'll put rails in later if needed and if I candle out some eggs.

I gotta say, for such a rock solid incubator, the Brinsea "egg holder" set up, well frankly put...SUCKS! For the price of the incubator, I got to admit, I was really disappointed and frustrated with the rail/foam pad set up. It works, but come on. That's the best you got?
