Hey everyone,

I received my new octagon 40 on Thursday April 9th. I plugged it in and got it all set up and found that only 2 out of the 4 fans were running. My next step was to ask this forum for help. Here is a link to that thread....

I received some help from a few people on here and immediately called Brinsea and talked to them. They sent me a new top to the incubator over night shipping. After my initial disappointment I was thrilled with the customer service I received from Brinsea. The new top arrived on Monday and I got everything set up for the second time. Every thing seems to be running great.

I will be updating this thread through out my first hatch. The incubator is a Brinsea Octagon 40 Advance. I also put the humidity pump option on.

The eggs that will be going in are all shipped eggs.
13 - Black Copper Marans
5 - Spitzhauben
14 - Blue Isbars
16 - Cream Legbars

I coordinated with all the sellers to ship the eggs on Monday the 13 of April. All but the Blue Isbars came in today. (Wednesday) The Blue Isbars should be here tomorrow according to the tracking number. I will let the eggs that came in today rest with the air cell up for 24 hours and then in they go. One Black Cooper Maran egg and one Cream Legbar egg was broken in shipping. Fortunately both sellers sent extra eggs. The Blue Isbars I am going to give 12 hours rest time before I put them in.

Please feel free to chime in with your experiences.

First two pictures are obviously the two broken eggs. Third and forth are my set up and the fifth picture is the eggs I'll be attempting to hatch.

The final eggs are here! Just picked them up from the post office. I will let them rest until tonight then all the eggs will go in together.

Very glad to see this thread, and can't wait to see how you do. I need another incubator, and am on the fence whether to get a 20 or 40

I debated the same thing. Could not find much info on the 40. I hope by the end of this 21 days I'll have some useful information on the 40 to help other people out. I'm excited to see how it goes and I hope more people chime in.

Have you checked the interior temps with another thermometer? My first two hatches were strung out between days 21 and 24. After buying and checking with a Spot Check, I bumped the display up to 100.0, and my last two hatches have been like popcorn on day 21. I still had great percentages on my first two hatches, but the 0.5 degree change narrowed up the hatching time.
You even got the EX. I am so jealous...
