Aw! Which one is that? Are all your rabbits friendly then? Its awesome how they all have different personalities, Caspian will be held anyway I want to, but enjoys playing and running around before cuddles. Mirabelle does not like being held but puts up with it, she loves to be pet. I'm still figuring Vera out but she's definitely more skitish than the others, not terrible, but still.

That is mama Quinn! None of mine like when they are first picked up but are more friendly when they are able to run around and I sit with them. They came from a large breeding stock so were not handled every day! My boys are more friendly than the girls. Hershey likes to follow me around the yard when he’s out and I’m working. The youngest girl, Lilly, is more skittish. She’s 4 months old. I assume she will become more trusting with age! Maybe that’s the case with Vera too. I found out yesterday, the breeder who owes me a doe said I could be getting a smoke Pearl, chocolate, or blue tort!

Oh my goodness! What color will you pick?

Well this morning has been a whirlwind. Kids went out to do the chores and I saw my daughter running in with an overly excited face. Her cat is due to have kittens any day now so I assumed it was that. NOPE! Quinn had kits last night!!! So, apparently even though I didn’t see it happen, she was bred when we first got them and were letting them run around in the house a while. She didn’t show any signs like pulling out fur early or making a nest or anything!! I didn’t put in a nest box because I really didn’t think she was due yet. So, I quickly grabbed a cardboard box and made a nest box, threw in some pine shavings and took it out to her. I put all her hair she pulled while having them and three live babies in the nest box. Then my daughter noticed my dog was eating something! And we are pretty positive it was a baby bunny because he had another one lying right beside him. I picked up the one beside him and it was alive but so cold and barely breathing. I brought it in to warm it up but it ended up not making it after a long time of attempting to revive it. I realized the board we used for the base of the cage had a very small triangle shaped hole that that the wire doesn’t cover. Not a problem for bigger rabbits but the babies must have fallen out of the cage!!! Our barn cats were out there too so no telling if they ate any before we realized what was going on. I’m pretty certain she had at least 5 kits but there could have been others. As long as she’s done, she has three live kits. I’ll check on her again in a while.

Oh!!! And since rabbits can have split litters…and I’m certain she was bred three times to be due May 11th, there’s a chance she could end up having more!!! What a disaster!
Well, I'm not sure that works with domesticated rabbits. I do know it works with wild ones, through you did say you saw fall offs?

Wow! What a crazy experience! So glad Quinn is okay and at least some of the kits made it. Crazy!

I did see at least three fall offs for the May 11th due date. The breeder I got them from said split litters can happen. I’m hoping it’s not the case for her so there is no risk to the babies. I’m thankful she has some alive! And she’s a good mother. She adjusted to me putting the box and moving her nest very well.
