BRM's Bunny Thread! ❤️🐰❤️

I have two Mini Lop rabbits named Alethea and Mirabelle. I will be breeding Alethea soon and was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips that they could give me! Otherwise, I also started this thread for any bunny lovers since we all (or at least I do) LOVE to brag about our bunnies! ❤️😁

I used to breed rabbits for about 3+ years! I bred Mini Rex and Mini lops! It’s such an exciting and rewarding experience! Do your bunnies like to throw things around? Like bowls etc? We had a nesting box for our bunny and she threw her nesting box upside down (with the kits inside and almost suffocated them but we got there just in time thankfully!) which we had to end up zip tying down 😅 so if your bunny likes to throw stuff then tie the nesting box down (unless it’s heavy enough where they can’t move it). When you breed them the buck will do a roll after he breeds. I would usually wait for the 3rd time after he rolled before I separated them. Also always always put the doe in the bucks cage when breeding them. Does are more territorial and will not be happy about someone barging in their cage. If you want you can feel the little babies in the moms tummy! It requires an experience hand but you can grab the mom by the scruff of the neck and flip her upside down. Make sure to give her support and don’t do this unless you know your rabbit well and you are very experienced. You can then gently take your fingers and feel for the babies. They will feel like a hard marble and sometimes they will kick or move!! Super exciting to do that but don’t do this unless you know exactly what you are doing so you don’t hurt mom or the babies, or end up having mom snap her neck.😣 Also if you get runts they will more than likely not make it no matter your efforts but if you can then flip mom upside down and hold her scruff and take the runt and attach it to one of her teats. You would have to do that everyday and very often through the day. Don’t feel bad if even if you do that the kit doesn’t survive because bunny runts are extremely hard to keep alive. Rabbits only have 8 teats so if she has more than 8 kits then keep an eye on their tummy’s to see who is feeding. The tummy’s should look nice and round and full.

I wish you the best of luck! Have fun and update us with pictures when she has the babies!! 🥹🥹
