Broke the Rules During Lockdown and Opened the Lid. More than once.

My issue is that I have 6 Bantam eggs that don't go into lockdown until the 21st. Is it possible to turn them a couple of times a day. Will the humidity be too great for them?

In my area the eggs would be fine with the humidity levels in my house. So a cardboard box with a heat lamp above it works for a few days.

Of course I would have to be careful that the light is far enough from the box without being too far. Inside your brooder might be a good idea.

This is my first time for everything chicken. I'm on day 18 and terrified. . You have to open the incubator to assist but thought that was a no no. What will happen if the incubator is opened during lockdown?
Also keep in mind that if you do not have external pips on the eggs then opening the incubator (even if it’s after day 18) doesn’t matter. It’s more of an issue once the chicks have broken through the shell. I used to go through all kinds of things like boiling water and steaming up the room before opening the incubator to remove shells & chicks and check on certain eggs. I don’t do that anymore and my hatches are fine. But I’m quick. In & out. If I need to check on a certain egg I pull that egg out and close the incubator quickly instead of leaving it open while inspecting. Like a previous poster said your goal is to keep your humidity stable and high once you have pips. Also look for optimal times to open if you need to. I try not to open when chicks are zipping. I’ll wait until there’s a lull in the hatch to remove chicks and shells. Hope this helps!
