Broken bill

Oh my, the poor dear! Ducks seem to do pretty well with bill injuries, so just keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesn't become infected or turning black. I'd say try to keep it clean, but this is a duck after all. ;) I'd still try to put some antibiotic gel on it a couple times a day, maybe at a time where she'll have a little while away from digging in the mud and water. Maybe at least just before bedtime so it'll have more of a chance of staying on longer? Honestly though, I think the wound will heal up fine and she will adjust to life this way, but that piece won't grow back. Preening properly might be a problem for her, so just watch out for wet feather.

We keep this on hand. If you get a chance look up online it's even repels ecoli.

Two things I have read do really well for reducing infection risk (used several times a day) are Vetericyn and salt water. Not a mix of the two, no, no, just either or.

Would the Vetericyn be okay since it would get on the tongue? I don't know, just posing the question…
