Broken claw

Chickayne's claw is broken. I'm not sure what happened but the claw is set facing directly down and is not healed. There's no resetting it. The more he walks the more it's going to put pressure on the tear. If I wrap it and allow it to heal it seems likely it could be a long term problem. I'm not sure if I should go this route, or possibly amputate the claw at the current tear to avoid further problems. I've currently got it wrapped and he's in the coop. Advice or experience?

I agree it's most likely going to continue to be a problem, unless it eventually falls off on it's own. I would probably wash it, coat it with Betadine, then remove it at that narrow spot where it appears to be broken, styptic powder or some such to stop any bleeding. Wrap it for a day or so or until it's well closed over and dry.
