I don't think you should have it wrapped...have you been wrapping it like this?
I'm wondering if the wrapping is what is making it swell more.

No today is the first time I wrapped it to keep the antibiotic cream on and the foot clean. Similar to what you would do if there was an open wound.I don't think you should have it wrapped...have you been wrapping it like this?

I would take the wrapping off.No today is the first time I wrapped it to keep the antibiotic cream on and the foot clean. Similar to what you would do if there was an open wound.
That's what I was wondering. I'm not familiar with chicken anatomy so I'm afraid to cut in the wrong spot and cause her foot to become more infected and lead to her death.I would take the wrapping off.
Have you though about cutting the swollen part yet?
I don't think you are going to cause more infection so to speak but if you don't get the pus out soon the infection can spread up her leg. That's what I was wondering. I'm going to call Monday and see if I can get her in. If her foot needs lanced I would rather a professional do it. I checked in her tonight and she was roosting with the others and seemed fairly comfortable so that makes me feel good. I'm just praying it doesn't get any worse throughout the day tomorrow and she can make it okay until Monday.Hmm. Amateur here, but you did say you have a poultry vet in the area. An hour's drive would be worth it to me, to have a professional give an opinion and provide treatment. I wish you and your hen all the best, it's obvious you care deeply for her and are trying to provide the best possible care for her. Keep us posted!
That's what I'm worried about. Especially since it has gotten bigger. I'm going to call the vet Monday and see if I can get her in. I would rather a professional lance it, but if i have to i will.I don't think you are going to cause more infection so to speak but if you don't get the pus out soon the infection can spread up her leg.
I think that is pus building up in the toe.
