Broken Toe

I have two Domineques and 3 RIR's. One of the Doms has a toe that is turned out to the side at the middle joint. She walks with just a little limp, but scratches just like her sister. Should I be worried? I think it will be ok. She hops, runs, eats, chirps just like her sister. They are about 2 months old. Have no idea how she did it other than jumping out of her roost??

I wouldn't worry about it.

If she's moving about normal then she's most likely fine.

I had one do that too at about the same age. She was fine and has no problem roosting. She will be fine.

Me too. My Americanas toe did that. I called around, etc. Long story short, I was told to straighten it and tape it. So, my husband and I had this plan to gently pull & straighten(like a dislocation) and tape it. I had a hold of her and he had the toe. There isn't much to there toes and my husband said he felt like it was going to rip off. So, we just kept an eye on it. Its still bent to one side, but she is a happy 25 week old girl now that doesn't let it get in the way. Imglax we just left it be

Periodically check the toe and foot to make sure the nail is not growing into or traumatizing another toe. You may need to trim the toenail occasionally if it is not touching the ground normally and wearing down. You may need to trim it occasionally as an adult as well. Check the bottoms of both feet when you check the nails- if the bird limps, more weight it put on the other foot- and the GOOD foot is more prone to bumblefoot. You can try taping the toe to the nearest normal toe for a few weeks to try to change it's direction.
