Brooder Bedding Suggestions?

I'm preparing the brooder a week in advance for the ducklings and I want to change the bedding to something other than straw. Last year I went between hay and straw for Colonel and Duchess but eventually stuck to straw until they moved outdoors. I want to do something different this year.
Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

The pelletized bedding is very nice and absorbs quite a lot. Not gonna keep up with ducklings, but maybe it will fall behind less rapidly.

I like puppy pads if I'm brooding inside. It can be pricey but super easy to clean up.

I use shavings for ducklings and straw for ducks. I've heard good things about puppy pads too but, I will have to give that a try.

Either pine shavings or pelletized horse bedding.

I usually put in the long term bedding (I put it in deep) and lay several puppy pads on top, then remove the top one with the mess, to reveal a clean one underneath.
