I finally convinced hubby this morning that I need a large brooder! Since our shed has electricity it will be 4'x4', not sure how tall yet, so that it can stand alone in the shed! I think I was able to talk him into it by telling him I would no longer have to keep chicks in the house if I had a good brooder. He said to draw up the plans and we could go today and get the materials!! I'll post pics as we are building and once it's finished!!

This is almost as exciting as the second coop that I have also talked him into building!!!

OOOH! Is that all it takes? I'm going to have to get busy trying this tactic with my husband! I mentioned a second coop to him last night and there was a fair amount of eye-rolling that ensued!

I was able to talk him into the 2nd coop when I explained that I need to keep my eating eggs for selling separate from the eggs I will be selling for hatching. Since I have BCM some that don't meet standard will be put into the laying coop to sell for eating eggs and I don't want people buying them at $3 a dozen then hatching them. Once he understood that I don't want my hard work from breeding to standard for the BCM going down the drain the second coop was an easy sell!

Well we didn't get the materials the other day but we have them now! Hubby is out in the garage cutting the boards right now!!!! I'll have pics up soon!
