Hi everyone!! We are new to all of this and I’m so nervous about getting something wrong and letting one of them get hurt or worse! I’m wondering if this brooder “kid” looks secure enough and safe. Any advice is appreciated!!

Why is there no hardware cloth in the corners on the one side? Are they outside or inside? I ask because, if they're outside, those corners are pretty large so even a cat or a fox could get in there?

They are in the garage right now. I wasn't sure how far to let the lamp hang down and wasn't sure if the bulb could sit directly on the wire. Is that okay? And should I add more wire? Luckily we don't have foxes but I have seen cats around the neighborhood, but we don't plan on opening the garage at all until they are ready to go to the coop.
Thanks! :)

The lamp on the wire shouldn't hurt anything, but I don't know temps where you are so I can't say how low the light should be. Mine have a thermometer in with them so I know their temp where the light is. As to the lid, I have mine in the house and they're completely covered. If you're not concerned about anything getting in with them then it should be fine until they can fly. If there's any chance of a cat or anything finding a way in, I would make the whole top hardware cloth. I may be a bit excessively overprotective though :D

I'd definitely cover that one uncovered corner - it'd be tragic if that was the spot that some chick tried jumping up at. I wouldn't let the heat lamp touch anything though so if that means raising it, then raise it a little. Otherwise it looks pretty secure... if you want a couple of bricks on the wood frame should apply enough weight to hold it in place.
