That’s cool.

Question:
About how long do you think I will be able to keep 12 (standard size layers) chicks in a 40 gallon plastic stock tank (from the feed store)?

I thought I was just fine, but after looking here I am beginning to wonder of they will outgrow it in two weeks! They will be about a week old when I get them.

Looks like I will have to figure that out soon, I expect to get them within a week.
Thanks,
Jean.

OK, then how long will that be large enough?

I think that would be about 2 water tanks worth of floor space.

(I think the potato crates are large enough, we don't see many watermelon crates in Oregon in Feb, lol.)

I’m not positive.

Mine is 4’ long 2’ wide 20”tall (#589) with 1 shelf and a perch. I was hoping that it would be good for the entire term.

Please make sure you have enough room for all of them to get in the shad if they get to hot under the heat lamp.

Different #'s all the time.I raise ornamental pheasants so each hatch gets their own brooder. At one time I did have over 300 button quail,so I had to build another brooder as they were tying up my pheasant brooder. So along with the over 300 buttons I had a few pheasant chicks also.
In N.H.,Tony.
