Brooders

We made this one today and it cost me about $33, That included the all the wood, hardware ( nails, screws, L brackets, wire for the top, vinyl tile
on the bottom for easy clean-up) https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/645474/the-new-chick-raising-box-we-made

If we had no interuptions and didn't have to run out for something we forgot it would of taken an hours time.

We're expecting a lot of chicks in a few days so tomorrow we are making two
of these and another two that will be 4 ft high x 4 ft deep by 6 ft long for that time between really small and going into the coop outside. All with screen tops.
Maybe you can make two separate ones and divide the chicks ?
The one like we built we hope will last for years.

I think I'm in trouble. I have eight little ladies that are three weeks old tomorrow. My brooder is only about 3.5 feet x 2 feet. How long can I keep my chicks in this before it's too small??

Plywood sheathing from a home building supply store. Two sheets of what we call OSB or oriented strand board, will only cost you $7 a sheet USD.

One sheet forms the bottom. 4' by 8'. The other sheet forms the sides. For $15 USD, you have a genuine, 32 square foot brooder. You'll need every square inch when they are 4 weeks old.
