Ended Broodies & Their Babies Photo Contest

She’s part of my first flock of 12, 10 of which are alive and doing. Among those she was one of 4 Bielefelder pullets. As a juvenile she was on the fringes of socialization with the other chicks, but she tolerated the Biel cockerel.
Bielefelders are very human friendly. I don’t see unusual aggression from the other 3 female Biels, but they absolutely rank 1,2,3 in the pecking order. Roost order has all the Biels the coveted section with the rooster in between the hens.
The breed is not known for aggression and it is said they do well as mothers. Sweets was missing the motherly allele.
I had a Biel female chick hatch today— not from Sweets though 😉
Hm, so there's nothing to pinpoint her aggression on anything. That's too bad she was the way she was.

partially- I removed the eggs Monday after the assassination attempt and finished them in the incubator, day 18

  1. An entry is *one* photo of your domestic broody with at least one baby.
  2. All domestic poultry allowed (chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, peafowl, guinea fowl, quail, pheasants, emu, etc.).
