Brooding adding more chicks a week or so later?

I got some horizontal nipples and vertical ones what age should i start them on the nipples? Was told and have read from 1 week to 2 weeks other say then tey start knocking over and perching on top of their open water jars.
VN's are pretty easy for even day olds to use.
I don't use VN's because they leak too much, among other issues.
HN's can take longer as they are harder to activate.
I have HN's in the brooder from the get go, along with the open waterer.
Some catch on quick, others not so much.

@RoosterML has rigged one with both VN's and HN's...it has yet to be tested.

Here's some photos of my setup.
I don't like the open waterers because of the mess. This time I decided to give the VN a go. Also added the HN to get them use to them. Due to the height difference adding a 2x block under the HN takes care of that. The down fall to the VN is the dripping. Actually I have had under 1cup of water drip in 2 days. The built in catch/drain takes care of that.

I had to change the cheap gallon jug as I cracked it.

I use a vertical nipple waterer from premier1 (holds maybe three cups, one nipple) in the brooder and it doesn’t drip unless someone leans against it, of course. It is no problem whatsoever.
I waited before until the chicks were a few days old, but this time I will try to get them on it from day 1, since they’ll be 20 minutes away from where we’re staying now.

I noticed that they are not drinking a whole lot of water but sure are making a mess of it and going thru the food spilling most of it in the litter.

Will be switching to H-nipples shortly.

The Silki had pasty butt this morning when I checked was able to clear it with a warm wet paper towel.

Thinking of Run I have a Nice 24' X 24' Area i can use to build a run with sticks an hardware cloth. Think 24' x 24' Will be big enough open area for 15 Chicks and 3 ducks or Can i go 18' X 24'
