Broody chick raising chicks?

@NatJ @SulkyBantam @TimberLine Homestead so an other update. I moved all the chicks into the greenhouse that's next to the flock and introduced a 5 month old pekin hen and she let the chicks peck at her head but did gently peck back, the CL (named iris) stared at the pekin and the had a stand off (high head staring at each other) and then the pekin pecked iris (just wanted to mention they are pretty much the same size) and iris just stared then walked off to the chicks. I noticed that the younger chicks stayed next to iris and starts to chirp loudly without her, the chicks strayed only like 30cm away while the pekin just roamed the whole area. The pekin is rather friendly, prob because she was getting bullied in the sebright flock.
What they up to now?

@NatJ @TimberLine Homestead @SulkyBantam (reply if you want tags) so I just checked on the chicks, they were all doing fine outside in the greenhouse so i let them out and gave them some food, if any chick got to close to her face when the pekin eating then shell peck them while iris the CL wont and I've put some videos of them on youtube. One of them is them together and another is when I sneak iris out of their sight, ( I think the chicks got noisier) and when I showed the chicks iris was outside and two of them tried jumping out to her. Here is a link for the channel it's on (sorry it's rather short)

Aw! Glad to hear its going ok.

@NatJ @TimberLine Homestead @SulkyBantam I just went to check on the chicks as it's cold to see them all huddled together on the chair, I was surprised to see the black pekin (cochin in america) letting one of the chicks under her wing. Sorry it was very blurry but could make out what's happening.

Last year was my first year with chickens, so I incubated a LOT of eggs, mostly shipped eggs, in batches of a dozen or so, and in three different types of incubators.

Naturally I had good hatches and bad hatches, and some hatches that resulted in only one or two chicks.

So by the end of summer I was brooding chicks of different ages, whoever got along best together.

I have one line light Sussex hen who was very motherly even as a small pullet. The two younger chicks I put with her were kept warm and sheltered under her wings, and she made sure they had full access to the food and water.
