I got her out, I shut the door to the coop so she can do her stuff without being bothered. She seems good. Eating and drinking and such. View attachment 2587037

Perfect! You can let her go back in after she poops. You can gradually have her out a bit longer as she gets used to "this is how it works".

Awesome! She pooped a little bit then went back all by herself. Thanks for the help! Not a lot of info on broody hens in my books and stuff.

Technically hitting the start of day 21 on my two incubator egg!!!! I put the eggs in around this time on day 00. Im so excited! May be some of the longest 21 days though. In a way it feels like it just started but also feels like ive been monitoring these eggs for my whole lifetime

So I took her off the eggs again and her poop kind of alarmed me. I just haven't seen anything like this before. Does anyone know what grey/black stuff on the poop would be?

How are everyones broodies? (and sorry for taking this thread so far off topic , but thank you so much for the help @MGG)

I just checked and she had one extra egg under her but that wasn't a problem. I haven't seen her get up yesterday or today. I haven't been checking like every 10 min so its totally possible she hasn't, but should I be worried about her not getting up? I felt her crop and it felt like there could have been a little bit of food in there but barely any, also no poop in the box so she must leave at some point right?

No problem! Fudge is doing good, for fun last night I pulled a couple eggs out to see if I could see any development, and sure enough! The two eggs I pulled out are definitely growing little chickies!

She is just in my big coop with all my other chickens. She wouldn't sit on the eggs anywhere but the one nesting box. I can just put her in front of the food in the attached run. Thank you!

Fudge is in the coop too, just in a corner in a dog crate. She usually comes out when it's hot outside (so 1:00-4:00 PM) and stays out for a few minutes. Long enough to get some grain, eat, poop, maybe take a quick dust bath, then she heads right back in to her eggs.

Broody poops often look weird, as they've been saving it up for hours.

Thank you! So today is day 21 for my two eggs, technically started day 21 last night at around 5:30. No activity yet. I just tried to candle and its not dark enough to really see the chick but I could see the air sac and it doesn't look internally pipped. Do y'all think they will be alright? I had them in a kind of crappy incubator that was often too cold and constantly went up and down a few degrees. Maybe they will just be a little late?
