My tiny barrd rock bantam hen is broody! That would awesome if I wasn't already at my limit of chickens! So as I see it I have a few options and hopefully someone can add or more or give opinions on which to go for..a) Rid the rooster fertilizing the eggs, tough because he is the protector of the free range flock b) collect eggs ASAP which would involve skating her off daily

Right now I'm doing probably the worst possible. I take all but one egg and leave her one to sit on.... :/ that's a pretty bad idea huh?

Here is how we unintentionally broke our broody..
Got a broody hen from a lady who didn't want to deal with her...Picked her up during daylight hours, took her for a thirty minute car ride then placed her in a wire cage off the ground.. Of course in our ignorance we didn't realize this would break her, I was going to give her eggs the next day, but alas, she was good and broke by the next morning

There are many options, but personally if I didn't want a broody I would place her in a cage with no nesting material off the ground where the air could get to her belly and just give her a day or two.

To break her it is best to put her in a cage with little or no litter, with a little roost bar and food/water. Mine usually have to remain in there for 3-5 days, then I try them to see if they run back to the nest box.

Most of mine are half-hearted broodies at best. Taking them out of the nest box a couple of times and scattering corn about usually does the trick. The Silkies, on the other hand................
