Broody hen question?

Just know if she hatches all of her eggs you will need a lot of baby food! I think it takes like around 27 or 21 days to hatch them.

I would get the baby food around 18 days of laying on the egg.

Also be careful if you go to check on her. She might snap at you. Broody hens are known to be mean.

So I'm thinking about adopting a hen with about 35 eggs in her clutch. Is there anything I should know? Anything I should do?
Wait, what?!
You're going to buy a hen that is broody and sitting on eggs at her current home?
How long has she been setting?
Moving her may well 'break her broodiness'.

It's a huge risk. The stress of the move may cause her to abandon the eggs completely. If you decide to do this, be ready with an incubator on standby just in case. You will also need a brooder, as she will not be able to that many chicks warmed.
