Broody Hen Thread!

Wow, ok. I guess I was worrying unnecessarily then. We didn't know if it would be too cold for them so my husband brought the chicks in the house tonight. Tomorrow I will just let them roost with the mamas though! Thanks for the advice!

Ok so I have another girl wanting to brood. I don't have a cage with a wire bottom but I do have a guinea pig cage that I usually use as a brooder. Would that work as a breaker with no bedding or nest? Lows will be in the mid 30s to low 50s range for the next few nights. Is that too cold for her to be by herself?

I am not looking at the guinea pig cage, but if its a solid bottom with wire sides---"I" would turn the cage on its side so she has wire under her.
