Broody Hen Thread!

Pics
I have a broody! Molly, my BO, is in her third round of broodiness since she started laying in December. I finally gave in and gave her 6 eggs to sit on. Tomorrow is day 7 and I'm hoping at least a few hatch!

My biggest complaint about the broodies right now is that I only have 4 hens and two of them are broody. How the heck am I supposed to get eggs when two aren't laying. Lol

I'm hatching out under my BO hen 2 dozen Blue, Splash, Cuckoo, Golden Cuckoo Marans. I'm selling them if anyone is interested!

I gave my broody eggs on May 3rd I know 21 days so that should be around May 23-25th right. I don't own an incubator figured it would be better under a broody. Has anyone every hatched shipped eggs under a broody?

One of my hens went missing for 21 days! Until she came out from under the barn with her chicks

I was so amazed that no cat/dog/rat/snake or anything got her!

This hen is one tough momma.. she has taken on wild birds that land too close to her chicks. Very protective, her last hatch was 16 peeps and all were raised in the open, she took them everywhere and all made it to maturity and I sold them a few weeks ago as great layers.

The broody now named mudd rejoined the rest of the hens last night so I think she took my chat to heart and gave up. Now my old faithful is making noise like she wants to setup a nest again ...

Well I went to a chicken meet up, in Norco Ca, and got a dozen eggs there and put them under one of my broodies and she is due in a couple of weeks. I live about 45 min from norco.
