Broody Hen Thread!

I wish my broody hens would accept chicks. They just peck at them and it's just to much. I have to take them back with me.

Ok. I slipped the chicks under her. she pecked at them a little, but settled down before i left thecoop. i guess i'll check on them before i go tobed. i wish i could stay out there all night to make sure she doesn'tkill them. if she does, well, at least i tried... i guess, at that point, i'll give her some from the other broody and hope for the best... i just don't know what else to do.

I'm back! lol so this is attempt #3!
first time my EE girl gave up, second time myBLRW girl hatched 3 of 10 eggs and lost one baby, and now I have a little itty bitty serama who has gone broody.
She had a clutch of 3 eggs for 3 days. Suddenly today there is a 4th egg! Is this normal? I thought they stopped laying when they went broody? Two of teh original three already have some veining in them, so I'm worried the last guy will be behind.

Also - her boyfriend still lives with her. They are my only two serama and she gets really upset when I take him away. He is still mating with her, but doesn't really seem to be interfering. He just mounts her while she sits on her clutch and she growls and life resumes. Is this ok? Do I need to worry about him and the babies? He is generally pretty aggressive to anyone new in his coop.

And last - I have a handful of serama eggs in the bator a couple days behind her - if they hatch, can I give the babies to her if her babies hatched a few days ahead of the bator babies? Should I give her the bator eggs before they hatch, or wait until they babies are out and give them to her then? What are the chances of her rejecting the bator babies?

I'm hoping for some olive eggers and some random pretty eggs
