Two to three more days until Buckeye chicks are due to hatch from those expensive shipped eggs. When I candled at day 14, all 6 eggs looked like they were developing.

Mom looks to be in lock down. Weather should be favorable...not too hot, or cold, or too rainy.

Momma Ms. Marvel is out in the run with the baby Rhodebars...all 4 thriving. One little stinker figured a way out through the gate and had to round him up, but he/she (it is the wheatan) allowed me to pick it up easily...they are very friendly chicks who will eat from my hands...so far I'm liking the Rhodebars. Will try to add a photo soon.

it can take 12 hours to zip, sometimes as much as 24 hours. Often they rest for quite a while after the initial breakthrough pip before they even begin trying to zip. It is so hard to wait!
We have 3 hens hatching today, each have at least one or two chicks already hatched, more eggs pipped and a few eggs with nothing yet. So gonna be a frustrating day!
Ah, good to know...I checked recently and I heard cheeping from under her! I'm trying really hard to not bother her too much.

Good luck on your hatches today!

On day 20 of incubating with my broody Wyandotte! I'm hoping that my set up is alright. I'm crossing my fingers that she hatches them safely!!

If I were you I would keep them seperate from the other hens. I've had naughty hens acidentily fall in to the enclosure and try to kill the chicks

. On the contrary I've had two hens raise chicks together with the other chickens and there was no stink. I think they do best alone. The ones raised with the flock are total freaks.

Today i walked outside behind our house, and i saw one of our d'anver hens with 3 chicks! it wasn't that many, but I'm not to sure how many she had to start so i don't know. One of them looks like a pure breed d'anver, and the others look like crosses between a d'anver and some other bird.

i will post a pic soon
