It's her first brood. She is at day 20. I have the one week old bantam from incubator that hatched last Sunday I think? I had to help it out may have been early Monday morning. No one is selling any chicks in the valley due to the bird flu.I just read higher up on the thread that the hens don't like it if chicks hatch too quickly?
My broody went broody while I had eggs incubating that were 10 days. At day 11 I put eggs under her.
Does she go homocidal if they hatch earlier than her internal clock?
All I can think to do is take the baby chuck roll it around in my broods nest ( which I already gathered) then try to graft her . I had 4 broody at the same time. However she was the last 5 days later then the others so I was prepared for my other bantam who did hatch 4/5 the 5th went into incubator .
Is this a crazy idea ? I hate to have her go this long and get nothing!
