Broody Hen Thread!

I just read higher up on the thread that the hens don't like it if chicks hatch too quickly?

My broody went broody while I had eggs incubating that were 10 days. At day 11 I put eggs under her.

Does she go homocidal if they hatch earlier than her internal clock?

It's her first brood. She is at day 20. I have the one week old bantam from incubator that hatched last Sunday I think? I had to help it out may have been early Monday morning. No one is selling any chicks in the valley due to the bird flu.

All I can think to do is take the baby chuck roll it around in my broods nest ( which I already gathered) then try to graft her . I had 4 broody at the same time. However she was the last 5 days later then the others so I was prepared for my other bantam who did hatch 4/5 the 5th went into incubator .
Is this a crazy idea ? I hate to have her go this long and get nothing!

Question. One of my chicks has a little piece of unabsorbed yolk sac attached to the abdomen. It's dry and walking around fine. Looks like the sac is drying up and hoping will fall off. Is that correct?

Anyone have experience with this?

I have had a few hatch like that and it always came off by itself.
how old is it? It probably is off already.
I also have a question, it's probably already in the thread somewhere but I couldn't find it.
Do chickens ever need assisting in hatches when they are being hatched by a broody and not an incubator?

Yes, this morning the small bit of yolk sac was dry and hard ready to fall off.
I haven't had to assist with broody eggs, only incubator. Broody eggs always hatch out faster for me too. Thanks
