Broody hen

We plan on giving most of the chicks to a friend. Would it be okay if kept one pullet or would I have to keep at least 2? As for males we are giving her (my friend) both males and females. I want to keep one chick so the broody still has one and I get to see it grow up.

IME, it's better to keep 2, so they can be buddies once they are weaned.

I just found her today, may not be broody. I have to save eggs anyway if I'm going to let her brood so she has time to show me her commitment.

well it is pretty easy to tell if the are broody can you tell me why you think she may not be broody
