Broody hen

Hi my hen munchkin has been trying to hatch unfertilized eggs for at least a week now and she has not been eating. I tried getting her up by moving her with a stick and she broke it by pecking. Everytime I open the coop door she does the little angry chicken scream and puffs and tries to pick me. He pecks really hurt even with gloves on and I have no idea how to move her to the chicken "jail" so she'll stop being broody. Any help or ideas?

If she's been doing this a week, I doubt she hasn't visited the outside world at all. In any case, you have to grab her and move her. I'm sorry, it might be painful but it has to be done

Broody Jail = Wire cage with wire bottom, elevated off the ground with food & water, no bedding. You can keep it in the coop so she remains part of the flock, keep her in it for at least 3 days, longer IF she is stubborn.

Pick her up, put her in the breaker. If you're scared of being pecked long gardening gloves should be plenty of protection.

Putting her outside probably won't cut it. It might, but there's a high chance she'll go right back in the nest. You need to break her

Yea don't worry we'll get out our old dog cage and keep her there for 2 days and see how it goes

Don't give her any comfy bedding to lay down on. She'll need a roosting bar of sorts inside the dog kennel, but no way for her to make a nest.

Have you tried putting ice packs inside her nest and underneath her? That might be hard to do if she's pecking though. I handfed to distract the chicken while inserting the ice packs.
