Broody hen

I heard that if you have a broody hen you can put baby chicks under her (from a feed store) and she will raise them as her own. Has anyone tried this?

The longer the hen has been setting the greater the rate of success; however, most fostering attempts are successful. Put the chicks under the hen in the evening so that she becomes accustomed to them, and things generally go smoothly.

My neighbor told me this was possible, putting newborn chicks under a broody hen, and I came here to try and find out if she was correct.

Did you try it and if so, did it work? I have a Buff Orpington that has been broody for a couple of weeks and would like to try it.
