Buffy, our BO/Ameraucana cross: She is sitting on make believe eggs in over 100 degree weather! We are working on getting her some fertile eggs to play with!

Several years ago we had MM EE hen (Sally) that was a great broody, when she left the nest she would immediately find the softest dirt and dust. What we found amazing, the new born chicks would also dust. Sally would kick dirt and the chicks would jump in the hole and Sally would end up kicking one of the chicks out and the chick would run right back to the soft cool dirt. We always cringed every time we saw a chick flying through the air only to land and run back to mom.

Great mom but on the fourth week ... she would drive them away ... ENOUGH!
