Just got the bumble foot cleared up and now my little black silky hen decides to go Broody.ugh! lol Is it odd that she is doing this in the fall( most of my girls have gone broody during the summer months) or do they do it when ever they get the notion to? :)

I just gave away a 1 yr old Australorp who is broody for the 3rd time this year. Some hens are just naturally broody and it can be very frustrating, especially this late in the year. I want EGGS, not more babies! :barnie

The smart money says that if brooding behavior was linked to egg laying that the owners of Silky chickens would all be up to their eyeballs in eggs.

Fortunately the opposite is true because if it were not then the price of eggs would not be worth the wear and tear on the old hen's bottom.;):p:D
