Broody on Nest

Is it possible to move a broody hen on a nest to a more suitable location if I move hen and eggs? If I do that will it throw things off?

I move them around all of the time. Chicken hens are pretty easy to move while broody, I have never ran into a problem. How far along are the eggs?

I tried to move a bantam hen sitting on eggs in the middle of my field. She was about one week along when i found her. I tried putting her and the eggs in a crate so she would be safe from predators. Sadly, she went into a frenzy in the crate (even though it was light, roomy, and had bedding and her eggs). I let her out, and put the eggs back, only to find she had got eaten overnight Moral of the story, maybe don't put your broody in a crate. She was also a flighty and tiny bantam. Sorry for the sad story, just trying to help.

I usually have someone to hold the hen while I put the eggs into a bucket, I keep the bucket of eggs in front of her so she can see them whilst we move both the hen and the eggs to the new nest. Always has worked “knock on wood”

Covered Cat Litter Boxes Make good setting boxes also.
Leave the rail that is on the lid and bottom to hold it together.
Cut a hole leave about 2 to 3 inches from the bottom.
Chicks can get in out after they hatch.

Just building the nest and moving her with the eggs is fine. Give her private time for about 20 minutes and check to see if she settles on the nest. Mine always do.

I’d suggest at night that way she can’t see what’s going on. My broodies always do better moving st night, because they can’t see so they don’t freak out as much.

I found moving at dusk or full dark helpful.

She will be sleepy or sleeping when moved so settling was faster.
