he looks so sad ! I have a broody hen that is setting on a clutch of 7 eggs and over the past 2 day she is down to 5 eggs! So This afternoon after the 2nd egg got smashed I brought her into the house to seperate her from the other girls.

My poor roo

he is laying in the nest box making the noise that my broody hen makes it is almost a purring mixed with boink, boink, boink....
The chicks are due to hatch any day and I do not want to loose anymore eggs!

I feel so bad for him is he sulking or what would u call this?
he NEVER gets in the boxes he roost 5 feet away and never gets close to the nest boxes! AND this is the same box she had her clutch in!?!?!

Yes it is possible. some friends of mine has a hen that crows and a roo that hatched and raised a hand ful of chicks, I wouldnt have believed it til I saw it with my own eyes.............

My bantam mutt roo(Dot) goes in the nests anytime a hen is looking for a place to lay. Dot finds the perfect nest, spends several minutes shaping it into the perfect nest, and then starts calling the hen to the nest.

I brag that he is the best layer I have. Any nest he is in will have an egg later in the day. He has produced up to 8 eggs in a single day that are various shades of brown, cream, and white.

he knows shes broody and is trying to get her to come back and finish the job she started, i've got a serama roo that takes care of his chicks better than some of the hens

LOL this is crazy LOL there arent even any more eggs in the nest box they are all in the house w her LOL

What should I do ?? should I put her back out there with him? she seems content in here ! I incubated the eggs up until a week ago when she went broody I gave the eggs to her. So she has only had the clutch of eggs for a week now. I am hopeing they will begin to hatch tomorrow i did a staggard hatch they are due tuesday, wed, & thurs.

So I gave my roo 3 eggs about 30 minutes ago!?
I do not know how well this will work but we are going to give it a try!
I presented the 3 eggs in front of him and he rolled all 3 up under him he stood over them for awhile looking at them. He then adjusted the straw and wood chips that are in the nesting box and snuggled down on them! He did not fluff up his feathers like the broody hens do but he is setting on them!

So I guess we will see if he is still on them come morning !!
