broody rooster

The grand daughter came up from the coops this
evening asking, does a rooster go broody? I said I have never seen one go broody but , they will sit on an egg. She said her naked neck is broody. We went back down to the coop and sure enough the roo was on some eggs. Thinking this was just for a few minutes so we watched. This crazy roo is broody, he fought off a two hens, one trying to get in the nest his is on and the other for trying to get in the one next to him. I tried to take him off only to have him draw blood. He is as bad as any broody hen I have ever seen. I want to see if his will hatch the eggs or this was a one day thing.

I guess we shouldn't be so sexist. If he wants to sit on some eggs well good for him Maybe he is giving the hens the day off.

lol that's to cute.. i had a rooster go into a nest box and wouldn't let any hens in.. it was way funny and cute
