Hey everybody,
I'm a new chicken keeper and am wondering how long my hen can be off her eggs? On day 7 at the moment.
When she hops off her eggs or I coax her off and she comes out to free range with the other chickens she has problems getting back on her eggs unless I physically put her back.
She is in her own new seperate little coop that I moved her into after her first day sitting. If she does go back she goes into the old coop and sits in one of those nest boxes and I have to move her.
Temperature here is 10-15 degrees celcius (50-60F).
The new coop has a little run but I leave the door open to the yard as on Wednesday she came out and freaked that she couldn't get out of the run and ate one of her eggs.
Any advice, tips and suggestions of how long she can be off the eggs would be much appreciated. I wanna let her do her thing naturally but also am worried about her eggs surviving.
