Brought our Buff Babies home

They are growing so fast and thank you for the compliments. I've tried as hard as I could to get a start up with basically no budget at all for it. It's all working out well . I'm acquiring lots of old barn wood donations and old oak pallets and what not as well as some old windows all to go in the 8x8 coop I'm building this spring. I live in a large mobile home community and have been blessed with a river side lot with plenty of room for a nice 15x40 garden and space for the chickens , our dog several out buildings and many other things most trailer lots don't afford people to have.

It sounds like a nice place! And nice you can have chickens there :D

By spring you should be set to just put it all together since you're gathering at that rate. You really did luck out getting that much space, when we lived in a park the yard was maybe a 4 ft strip that ran the lenght of the MH. Needless to say, you aren't keeping anything on that.:)

No for sure not on that . I actually got permission to clean my lot and make it bigger seeing how I run right to the river bank. My lot is all of 15 ft each side of my MH and about 200 deepbut increases to atleast 75 w right at the back of my MH

your chickens look like they are doing very well. It is amazing how well they will do in colder temps, they will cuddle up and their feathers will keep them warm. You are doing a great job!

Thank you kindly. I went out earlier and they have started going in to bed. I had a couple stragglers so I helped them up the ramp to bed and closed them in for the night. So much progress was made today and tomorrow will prove even better I think.

Well last night was a good one. LoL I went out to close them up for the night and I searched all over for them because they were not in the coop. They were not in either run as well. I saw no feather or break in attempts. I was about to panic in till I looked up and found all 5 on top of the coop in the darkest spot , sleeping like babies. LOL. They were ok with me helping them out I guess but that meant waking them up . I felt so bad .

LOL like a new dad! I bet your heart sank! I know the feeling, it is a worry when you can't find them at first, but they have each other. I just put my 5 babies ( 6-8 weeks old) in the coop today, I had them in the brooder in the garage. I have been out a couple of times checking on them with the flashlight, they are all sleeping happily on the straw in the coop making happy sounds.
