All my eggs are various shades of brown heard it was harder to candle these should I just wait and not candle? I set them on easter sunday. They are an unknown mix of barnyard chickens from a farmer. And do you hold the small end in the light source or the big end? Thanks

If your light is bright enough you shouldn't have any problems. I lay mine on their side to cover the hole of my candeler. Good luck. I'm no expert, so I am hoping you have more responses.

I usually wait until day 10 to try and candle my marans and welsummer eggs.....if they're a lighter brown you should be able to candle them on day 7 with no problems.

I always wait til day 7 on brown eggs...and I candle from the big end down....
