Brown Red Mottled D’Uccles Project

Pics
Update!!
Up first are the F1xF1 chicks. The are one week old today!

Both the chicks with dots on their heads have a tiny amount of mottling on their wings. They both have a good beard but not good muffs.

I’ve been doing some research, I figured out why there are Mille Fleur colored chicks in the F1xF1 batch that just hatched. It’s because Mille Fleur is Gold Columbian with mottling, Mottling is recessive, so you will not see Mille Fleur in the F1s and not all the F1s will carry Mille Fleur gene. That’s why some of F2s are Mille Fleur colored. And probably some of the chicks carry the gene. I hope this make sense, sorry if it doesn’t.
Edit: in the F1s but all the F1s will carry the Mille Fleur gene.

Autocorrect is some times not my friend.🤦‍♀️

2 little F1xF1 chicks hatch!!! There would of been 5 but a snake got in while I was away for the weekend an ate them. You might be wonder where these eggs came from, well after I took them out of the breeding coop, I say 5 little eggs in their nesting box (kind of forgot to get eggs after I was done breeding/hatching) so I put them under a hen and here’s what I got!

This one is good

This one is so cool! I hope it’s a girl so I can keep it! Of course not for the breeding project. I can’t wait to see what it looks like!

Whats the difference in age of these and the last batch? Are they close enough to combine?

They’re about a week apart.

They would be close enough to combine if I had them brooding in the house with out a hen, I don’t have the best luck getting hens to brood together. So I don’t want to risk the little babies getting killed.

Oh yea, I'd wait for them to feather out. But they'll still be close enough in age to combine. How exciting!!! Love your babies 🥰
