Brown spotted Muscovy eggs?

Here is one of the eggs I am talking about (middle).

The white eggs do seem to be pretty waxy. The brown ones do not. I actually kind of hope the brown ones turn out to be something different. Would be a nice surprise. Now I just have to hope one of them actually hatches. I am not too optimistic about the clutch. The seller shipped them out on a friday for some reason so I did not get them until monday.

The seller emailed me back and apparently the smaller eggs are bantams (he thinks) that he said he used to fill box. Glad I asked him about it or I would have never thought to stop turning them early and to look out for them hatching early. They were extra eggs so it's no big deal, but it would have been nice to know. Now I just have to figure out what to do with a few chickens assuming I can actually hatch them. Are bantam hens really loud?

You know, my banty girls are really not too loud at all. And the crows of bantam roosters are somewhat annoying, and bare in mind that their crows are high-pitched. You can free-range them and I'm sure they'll grow up happy. But I'd suggest keeping them seperate from the ducklings when they hatch. Ducks are very messy-even when young. Though I keep my two 'Scovy girls in with the chicks and they do fine together.

And I wouldn't count yourself out for the hatch yet. I've heard of eggs that have been in the refrigerator still hatching, even though the chances of life developing in the eggs after something like that does decrease with time. You might want to think about humidity difference, though. I usually let my broody hens hatch my eggs, so I'm not sure if it is too humid for the banty chicks to live/hatch well in that environment? As opposed to just ducklings.

Well, I only have one incubator so I'll just have to see what happens with the chicken eggs. I bought these eggs mainly just to see if my home-made incubator will actually hatch out some eggs. It probably would been cheaper if I had just bought a few ducklings but I figured it would be more fun to hatch my own. Is it about ten days in when I should be able to tell if the eggs are fertile?

I hatched eight ducks and six turkeys out in the same incubator, so I don't think it was too bad.

The turkey eggs were shipped, so that might explain why I only got 6 out of 13... Grr.
